The old David B. Thompson farm has gone through many incarnations. David Thompson worked the land in the mid 1800’s as a family farm. During the Civil War, he and his wife Philaura, lost their only son at the Battle of Gettysburg.
Once a 185 acre plot, over time, house sites have been carved off of the original farm, and in 1998 it was sold to the current owner at just over 140 acres.
Through a deal brokered by Peter Espenshade and the Lake Champlain Land Trust, 90 acres of the property was transferred to the State of Vermont to remain undeveloped as part of the creation of the Niquette Bay State Park.
In an effort to put the remaining lands to use, Tuberville has come into existence.
As with most things, be they rooted for time or fleeting in wind, Tuberville is a work in progress.
