The Abbott Farm is a small family farm on about 50 acres in Durham, Maine.
Currently we raise poultry for meat and eggs, and we maintain a small herd of cattle for beef. We also produce maple syrup, firewood, hay and various vegetables, including halloween pumpkins. All foodstuffs are raised organically.
This year, we asked local seed stores and potato farmers to donate seed potatoes at the end of the normal planting season. This means we planted the seeds quite late (around the 4th of July) and will harvest in October. The neat part of this is that we have managed to avoid the potato bug (colorado beetle) infestation that usually damages quite a few plants. Thanks to Bell Farms of Auburn, Maine for your donation!
The Abbott Farm hosts a "harvest party" every year in mid-October, which features hay rides, pumpkin carving and such.
